Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Lent 37 - Hump Day

Its Wednesday
hump day
middle day
nothing day

just a day
another day like so many other days

no unique meetings
no new adventures
no new tasks

just the same ole, same ole

its Wednesday

I wonder what Wednesday was like for Jesus
Hanging out in Jerusalem
hanging half way between Palm Sunday and Good Friday

what was it like
going through that day
teaching, talking
listening to the whining of his disciples
the family squabbles of the twelve

what was it like wandering the dusty streets
and seeing all those around him
going through business as usual

while knowing what was about to happen
knowing he was going to die

no wonder the parables from those days
were so pointed, and cryptic
he was speaking to a world
that was walking in it’s sleep

it is Wednesday
will I walk through this day
with my eyes and heart and mind open

or will I took walk through this day
this life
through this in between time
between the magnificent defeat
and the coming of the kingdom
in my sleep?
