Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Surprise! Hi! I'm God

Spirituality is about being ready.  All the spiritual disciplines of life…… are there so you can break through to the eternal.  Spirituality is about opening the eyes, the ears, the heart so you can see what’s always happening right in front of you.

Just ask the Lord to ready your heart…..
Don’t try to build your own door…
Don’t even go search for the door you’re supposed to go through
Just ask that when the door shows itself, you’ll have the eyes to recognize it and the courage to walk through it.

There they sit
scattered across my desk
books
books about God
books about life
about relationships

ah if one could only read one’s way
into knowledge of God
and joy
yes, into life itself

one can know about God
through books
through personal practices
but one cannot know God that way

God comes in the daily grind
in the unexpected
like a thief in the night
catching us unawares

Jesus always taught using
the common
making God present in the
daily things of life

oxen, vineyards, people working in the fields
ah, yes,
sheep
always those sheep

so too with us
God becomes present to us
in the midst of our days…..
in a smile
a bird on the wing
a song
in the rising and setting of the sun
in fresh snow on the mountain

surprise!
Hi!  I’m God!

and so too, is how we find our way
by surprise
suddenly there it is
right in front of
(if we have eyes that see, that are ready to see)

a door
the door
through which we are invited
to step

into God’s new thing

Isaiah 43

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.
