Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Mercy, Mercy

Friday, February 5, 2016

Mercy is not a virtue that you choose to put on one day. Mercy has to be your deepest way of seeing, a generosity of spirit that draws from your identity, your deepest dignity, which is love. It is basically a worldview of abundance, wherein I do not have to withhold, protect, or hoard myself.

blessed
it has been said
are the merciful

but what does it mean to be merciful?
O yes, it means to be,
forgiving, compassionate, clement, pitying, forbearing, lenient, humane, mild, kind, softhearted, tenderhearted, gracious, sympathetic, liberal, tolerant, indulgent, generous, magnanimous, benign, benevolent

take your choice

but for mercy to real be mercy
that is mysterious thing

it can so easily slip into condescension
into almost arrogance

we can make mercy about us

but true mercy
can only come out of fullness
out of abundance

out of a sense of being so loved by God
that we dare risk
generosity, and  forgiveness

mercy is being enfolded,
and enfolding the other,
in Sacred love, to such a degree

that we have no sense of what we are doing
and no choice
but to do
what is merciful

In mercy there is no fear
Only love
