Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

A full heart

Someone asked me, “Aren’t you worried about the state of the world?” I allowed myself to breathe and then I said, “What is most important is not to allow your anxiety about what happens in the world to fill your heart. If your heart is filled with anxiety, you will get sick, and you will not be able to help.”

Somedays my heart is full
Of the things of the world
Presidential debates, video tapes, and hurricanes
Global warming (yes, it’s real), and guns
Rape culture (it’s real too), and war

We live in a world of specters
Real and imagined

And it is so easy to let them rush in,
Hungry ghosts that they are,
And fill our hearts

But all of this is toxic
It poisons us
And torments us, mind and body
And soul

We must breathe in
Pray in
The Sacred
Taking time, over and over again
To pause
And take in the beautiful
The sky, the sun
The birds
The mountains
The breeze
The smile of a friend
The joy of accomplishing good
The Presence of Love

We must take this in
This light, this love, this hope
Letting it cleanse and open
And heal
