Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

evil good, good evil

“The greatest temptations are not those that solicit our consent to obvious sin, but those that offer us great evils masking as the greatest goods.”
― Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island

O Holy One
who dwells within
and empowers us with love

forgive us when we think
we have to do
your job

forgive us when we think it is our job
to exclude the “unworthy” from the kingdom
I suspect in your eyes there are no “unworthy”
Just people having trouble finding the way

Forgive us when we think it is our job to
Straighten out
those whose lives may be marked by things destructive

true transformation comes from within
from deep within
coercion, shaming, judging
really don’t work

you would rather burn within their hearts
and create the change that can only come from you

forgive us when we think we have all the answers
who are we kidding Lord?
Not you!

if we think we have all the answers
if we think our way is the only way?

Well

we don’t take you and your nature very seriously
as if we could ever put you
our God
in a nice, neat, theological book

forgive us when we get caught up
in all kinds of dogma and law

remind us that it is really about two things
loving you
and loving each other
how could we have forgotten that?

Forgive us O Sacred One
for those many times
in the name of good
we have hurt and shamed
confused
and repelled

Forgive us
for we know not what we do
