I took a walk today
a distant winter sun
left the day
bleak
and old snow lay
lifeless
crumpled and dull
like a dirty sheet
resolutely
I strode
head down
purposeful
driven
and then
I stopped
there in the mud of the road
I stopped
and breathed
and I began to sink
into the depths of the earth
and as my feet
slowly became rooted
in the stuff of creation
I saw swirling in the breeze
a hawk
felt the crisp air
as it brought life
through breath
I saw the mountains
looming
dark sentinals
watching over
the winding waters below
I heard the creek laughing
through stone and ice
I felt my heart
my breath
my life pound through my head
and I knew
Ain't it wunnnerful!
