Hanging the Greens

the day is warm

and wet

and muddy

very unChristmas like

I have to say

yet on this day

a small piece 

of God's flock

members of an outpost of the Kingdom

will gather

and fueled

by donuts

and cider

hang the greens

the place where we worship

will be full of symbols

that remind us

that God is

that God is love

that God is always present

that God took the initiative

to spring forth

from a dead stump

a hopeless people

a hopeless situation

and make all things new

somehow

in this time

and this place

that is important
