another death
another child lost
while voices cry
“guns don’t kill people, people do”
another day
another death
another person
slips from life
unable to afford the care that might give them
life
while people fight for the system that killed them
another day
another death as a homeless person
somewhere
hungry and alone
simply fails to wake up
while building managers put spikes on the ground
to deny them shelter
another day
where somewhere a person with amazing wealth
makes more in a day, than another makes in a year
and complains
another day
where somewhere a politician
claims God gave them the victory
while promoting a policy of hate and exclusion
somewhere along the line
our heads have gotten disconnected
with our souls
