How to be Happy

When all your desires are distilled

You will cast just two votes

To love more,

And be happy.

what can we say

about life?

is it really as complicated as we would make it?

we rush through our days

we work

and play

and seek the grail

which holds the water of life

but ultimately our titles

our houses

our cars

all our prestige

is mere foolishness

all we need (isn’t this a song?)

is love

not all we need

(food and clothing are nice

as is a place to live

and perhaps a little medical care)

but really

if we have someone who loves us

someone who makes our heart sing

or, perhaps

 someone who simply allows us to be

who we really are

and if we commit ourselves to love

then

finally

we have a better than average chance

to be

happy
