“I would love to live
Like a river flows
Carried by the surprise
Of its own unfolding…”
― John O'Donohue, Four Elements: Reflections on Nature

each day is new
O, we have our plans,
which are of little use
for life rushes wildly on
roaring and tumbling
only slightly controlled
finding the rock in it path
it is sometimes diverted
sometimes it crashes apart
and sometimes refusing to be denied
it carries this would-be obstacle
and rolling it before
as if a toy
rolling
unfolding
it makes its way forward
finding its way
changing that which it touches
being changed
inexorable
free
and joining at last
the sea
home at last
