“It isn't that they can't see the solution. It is that they
can't see the problem.”
― G.K. Chesterton

It is a prerequisite for almost everything
It must be there
for change
or transformation
forgiveness or reconciliation
to happen
without it arrogance thrives
spiritual and other wise
without it we pontificate but do not listen
we control and coerce, but do not collaboration
without it we judge
and lose all sense of compassion
without it we just continue
to make messes
for lack of a better name
let’s call it insight
that awareness we have
of who we really are, for better
or for worse
that awareness we have of how we
have fallen short of our divine nature
of how we have wandered off the path.
I am not talking about that false insight
Which sees only the shortcomings of the other
And pontificates about it
All over FaceBook
I am talking about the discipline of looking
Honestly into the mirror
Turning our eyes in toward ourselves
so that we see our own fear, and hate,
and creed, lust, and dishonesty.
Our own desire for power
Our own failure to love and accept.
We cannot speak judgement of another
Before we have thoroughly examined ourselves
All too often it is true!
It isn't that we can't see the solution. It is that we can't
see the problem
And sometimes the problem
is
us
