“I did not want to appear before the world as pathetic, depressed,
and psychologically ill. So I erected a barrier of words and wit around myself,
so that nobody could see how needy I really was.”
― Karen Armstrong

When we are struggling and hurting
When our soul is in pain
We often try to act as if everything is OK
“I’m fine”
But in spite of our best efforts our inner ache leaks out
In ways often dysfunctional
We silently cry for someone to comfort us
But act in ways that disconnect us and alienate us from
others
Sometimes we just need to say
“help, I’m hurting”
It is then the healing can
begin
