Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

The Sun always rises

As cries are absorbed into silence, the sun always rises just when the night seems like it will never end, as the sky holds everything flying and everything fall, there is something indestructible at the center of each of us….    Mark Nepo, Book of Awakening

Lord
I have a complaint about the way you designed the world
what is it with short winter days anyway

I hate getting up in the darkness
I have getting home in the darkness
I hate sitting at my table in the morning
looking through windows that
merely look back
showing nothing but the darkness beyond

there is something about dark places Lord
whether they be outside us
or inside us
that is scary
and perhaps
perhaps
a bit sacred

in the darkness we are left alone with ourselves
and we sink into the depths
where the creatures of the night
the things we would rather not see
and think about
dwell

but in that deep place
there is something else
there is that something indestructible
there is our authentic
created to be self
there is Love

that seed of the Sacred
that presence that is you

and so at times
it may seem as if the sun will never rise
it always does

You Can't make love all dressed up

Richard Rohr titled his daily meditation today, “You can’t make love all dressed up”.

In the meditation he makes this quote:  “We long for the space where there is nothing to prove and nothing to protect; where I am who I am, in the mind and heart of God, and that is more than enough.”

O Sacred One
we have those funny dreams
where we preach naked
or show up at school
or work
or someplace where we are extremely vulnerable
naked

ok, maybe not everyone has those dreams
but we know what it means
to pile vulnerability upon vulnerability

we know how it is
to feel exposed, and defenseless

sadly God
the more vulnerable we feel
the more we hide
the more we put up our defenses

we hide from those we fear
but also, all too often
from those we love
from those we would connect with

we even hide
or try to hide
from You

that doesn’t work very well
as Adam and Eve quickly learned

but Lord
you tell us you love us
you really love us
agape love
no strings attached

and we are reminded
that one “can’t make love all dressed up”

Lord
this day
every day
teach me

not to hide
not to clothe myself with fear
or even my own competence

remind me
to go that “space where there is nothing to prove and nothing to protect;
where I am who I am, in the mind and heart of God,
and that is more than enough.”

remind me to let You love me

Is it true Lord?

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
― Rumi

Is it true Lord
that there is not enough love?

Is it true Lord
that there is not enough generosity
compassion
forgiveness
hope

that there are no resources
to help the poor
to feed
to clothe
to health

is it true that there is not enough

Is it true that we must grab
and horde
that we must protect “me”
at the cost of the “we”?

_____

My child my child

When you are gathered in my name
I, love, am in your midst

and thus little one,
there is always enough love
and if there is enough love
there is enough
of everything else

because powered by My love
you can be “we” and not “me”

powered by love
you can give
