Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

re-finding human

Those on the top of the social order see those at the bottom as subhuman
Those on the bottom of the social order see those at the top as inhuman
Nobody seems to see others as human

it is easy to live in the world of labels
Conservative
Liberal
Muslim
Christian

We no longer even understand what some of those labels
really represent

We have our ideas
About those liberals who do not “love God”
And those conservatives who do not “love people”

but for the most parts labels are no longer truly descriptive
they are just a way of categorizing people
of putting them in nice little boxes
of stereotyping
and
ultimately distilling others down to
a talking point
de-humanizing them

the same is true of adjectives
male, female,
gay, lesbian, straight, and more
rich, poor
saint or
sinner

funny how Jesus seemed to never label people
or worry about the adjectives

for the lover of souls
there were simply people
who for one reason or another
stumbled (often) across his path
there was merely a Mary, or Martha
a Peter, or John, or Lazarus

that is one thing about the Sacred

Sacred always calls us by name
and sees us as a one-of-a-kind miracle

we are simply people

undefined
except by the Sacred Presence
which dances freely
in our hearts

and the unique
divine
design
woven into the fabric of our being

we are simply human
infinitely
precious

Living from the heart

The heart is beautiful precisely because it is where God dwells
The heart is the divine sanctuary
                                                          John O’Donohue,  Book of Blessings
___________________________________________________________

at our core
we are beautiful
each of us is a precious, amazing soul

a dwelling for the Sacred

and at times
that splendor
shines through the cracks and fissures
of our dry and brittle
and all too common
selves

and there is
love

sadly we often worry more about the surface cracks
than about our hearts

our attempts to fix those cracks and fissures are doomed to failure
all we end up doing, with such an emphasis
on surface things
is block the love

so we must constantly go to the deep level of the heart
we must be the Sacred (Spirit)
there
where it lives within us
and fan the flame
of faith

the more fire in our hearts for the Sacred
the more light and love
finds its way through us
into the world

and God knows
the world needs light
and love

The Apple of God's eye

May you recognize in your life the presence,
power, and light of your soul…
May you learn to see yourself with the same delight,
pride and expectation with which God sees you,
in every moment
                                           John O’Donohue

we are, Sacred Children
the apples of God’s eye

we are deeply loved
wonderfully empowered

believe it
about yourself,
and about each person you meet
