Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

To touch the soul of another human being is to walk on holy ground.

O Lord
It is easy to forget
the sacred in others

Sometimes it is difficult
to get past
all the external distractions

the anger
the hate
the poverty

hard to look past
the dirt
and the drunkenness
the behaviors we do not like

hard to look past
the smell
and the raggedness

hard to look past
the racing minds
the voices we cannot hear
the dark depression
that silence and isolation

but Lord
inside each of us
you reside
the Sacred seed is there

and when we reach out
with understanding
and compassion
when we reach out
and touch

we are on holy ground

Reluctant Growth

Usually, without growth being forced on us, few of us go willingly on the spiritual journey.

Richard Rohr

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adversity
We hate it Lord
I mean really!
Isn’t being a child of the Ruler of All
Isn’t participating in the Sacred
Supposed to make everything easy?

Kind of like being in the Spiritual 1%?

And yet life happens
Big time!

Lord, help us to remember
That when adversity comes
We really have two choices

We can allow it to destroy us
Eat us up from inside
We can wallow in anger or self-recrimination
We can become less…..

Or we can go deep
Deep to the heart of who we are
And find You

In our radical vulnerability
We can cry for help
And reach out
Desperately for our heavenly parent!

Much as a child
No
Exactly as a child

And find comfort
And strength
And love
And
Yes

Growth

Thank you for transforming trial
into growth
perhaps reluctant growth
but growth

Remind us O God
To choose
Wisely
To choose
You

Just love

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
John Wesley

Christian ethics
are pretty simple really

Love God
Love the people around you

Not some of the people
All of the people

Love them no matter what color they are
Or what they believe
Love them whether they are rich or poor
drunk or sober
liberal or conservative

Love them when they are strong and productive
Love them when they are wounded
And hurting

Love them when
For whatever reason
You can’t like them

Just love them
Love them with loving speech
Love them through compassion
Love them with your actions
Love them with your attitude
Love them with your time
Love them with your giving

Love them by forgiving
And accepting
By seeing the seed of the sacred in them
No matter how twisted or blurred
Or hidden
The divine image might seem to you

That person in front of you
Is inherently precious
A child of God
A prince or princess
A child of the Ruler of All

So just love them
love them with all
the love (God)
that is in you
just love

(and don't forget to love yourself too)
