No doubt about it! God is good — good to good people, good to the good-hearted.
But I nearly missed it, missed seeing his goodness.
I was looking the other way, looking up to the people
At the top, envying the wicked who have it made,
Who have nothing to worry about, not a care in the whole wide world.
Pretentious with arrogance, they wear the latest fashions in violence,
Pampered and overfed, decked out in silk bows of silliness.
They jeer, using words to kill; they bully their way with words.
They’re full of hot air, loudmouths disturbing the peace.
People actually listen to them—can you believe it?
Like thirsty puppies, they lap up their words.
Psalm 73, The Message
______________________________________________________
This morning there was, I think, a great sunrise.
I missed it. I got sucked into the news, and sucked into anger, and despair.
And I missed it
God revealing God’s glory
We cannot let this culture blind us
Whether we embrace it, or are driven to despair by it.
We have to keep our eyes on God. We have to constantly choose God
And reject the way of power and domination
We have to stop worshiping the way of power and domination, and the people who represent it. That way is nothing.
And remember God. And God’s way. We have to keep our eyes on God.
And then, despite how illogical and useless it might seem
Walk the way of radical love
Standing up against hate and greed, with every fiber of our being.
