I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Sacred eyes, Sacred hands, Sacred feet
"Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours."
-Saint Teresa of Avila

I believe in Sacred
I believe
there is something bigger than all I can
see, experience, or even imagine
this loving, powerful force is not just “out there”
it is also “in here”
it is at the core of who we are
it is part of each of us
we carry Sacred in us
which is, perhaps, why the Bible insists
we were created “in the image of God”
because we are infused with Sacred power and love
we see Sacred love and sacred power clearly
in the sun
the moon
the stars
in the beauty of nature
and the terrifying power of a storm
we see it less clearly
in those who should most clearly
illustrate the nature of sacred
those beings in whom Creator and created are so entwined
as to be indistinguishable
once a person came
to show us how it should be
to show us how life should be lived
when Sacred love and power
flow
to illustrate what happens when we allow
the Sacred in us to truly manifest
oddly
it is often
those who talk most about this one
who shout the loudest that we should
follow
this one
(yes, I am talking about Jesus)
who act the least like him
who most profoundly blur his image
and yet
we are
how the Sacred One
impacts this world
we are the eyes
the hands, the feet
of God
as we see with compassion
and act with compassion
we are how Sacred is most real
in this world
in the lives of the poor, the hungry, the hurting
the homeless, the mentally ill
this is terrifying
and wonderful
so may it be
