Living in Darkness

Don't worry about the wicked. Don't envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like springtime flowers, they soon wither. Trust in the Sacred and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Holy, and he will find your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to God. Trust and you will be helped. The Sacred will make your innocence as clear as the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the God, and wait patiently for God to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop your anger! Turn from your rage! Do not envy others -- it only leads to harm. For the wicked will fail (eventually), but those who trust in the LORD will possess the land. In a little while, the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone. Those who are gentle and lowly will possess the land; they will live in prosperous security.

stop anger

turn from rage

it may seem

as though the evil prosper

and perhaps they do

perhaps they can buy their way to power

perhaps they can go the way of domination

and make themselves more powerful

by making others less

but I will go the way of communion and love

rather than the way of domination and power

I will chose to see others as souls to be nurture and tended

rather than as threats to be conquered and subjugated

to be honest there is a little anger

and even a little rage

but this I know

we come from the Sacred

we carry the Sacred with us through this life

we will return to the Sacred

and as a carrier of the Sacred

as one in whom the Spirit is present

I must live my life

with compassion

and love

with generosity

I can do no other

and always

eventually

maybe not immediately

be eventually

love wins!
