I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Lets not forget Jesus
Jesus Christ
Nope
Not right
It’s Jesus “the Christ”
Jesus is a name
The name of that one
Who walked the earth with his divine nature
Full awake
So that the distinction between Sacred and Common
Was meaningless
Jesus, fully human, but fully sacred
Jesus
Kind, forgiving, accepting, care
Jesus
One who was willing to let go of his very life
For others
Jesus who was all love
Christ is a title
For the Jews it meant “Messiah”
Which meant King, Ruler
Messiah was, for most people
All about power, and might
It was about being better than, stronger than,
It was about dominating, subduing
It was about vengeance
(Make Israel Great Again)
In America the “church” worships
Christ, but forgets Jesus
It makes faith about dominance, and exclusion
About power and control
And forgets forgiveness, compassion, and love
When Christ is dominant
We judge and exclude
We see God as being for “us” and not “them”
We see God as blessing “us” and not “them”
When Christ is dominant so much is lost
Followers of Christ can suppress the vote
They can exclude and hate
They can choose money over people
And wealth over creation
They can vote for Trump
If you don’t believe me, look around at the toothless relic
that is the American church
Followers of Jesus
Accept, affirm, love, forgive, include
They choose people over money
They honor creation
They protect the vulnerable
Jesus can be the Christ
But only if Jesus defines the concept of Christ
Not the other way around
Thus ends my theological pondering for today
