Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

True Love

“We will not just say, "I love him very much," but instead, "I will do something so that he will suffer less." The mind of compassion is truly present when it is effective in removing another person's suffering.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh, Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life

“You are in my thoughts and prayers”

“I am thinking about you!”

How often we mouth
In all sincerity
Such words of compassion

We talk about our concern for the poor
Our anger over oppression and injustice
Our empathy for those whose hearts are broken

And there is true power in our concern

But ultimately compassion is action.
Compassion moves.
It doesn’t stand still.

Compassion becomes mercy
It becomes forgiveness,
And generosity

It becomes more than just a sympathetic word
It becomes presence
And kind action

Stomachs filled
Clothes given
Housing procured

Kindness is a tender gift from one soul to another
A momentous gesture that eases suffering
And can never be erased
From the heart of God

Travel Light

Just these two words He spoke
changed my life,
“Enjoy Me”

what a burden I thought I was to carry
a crucifix, as did He

Love once sead to me “I know a song,
would you like to hear it?”

And laughter came from every brick in the street
and from every pore
in the sky.

after a night of prayer, He
changed my life when He sang
“enjoy me”
                                           Teresa of Avila

What is the worship of God
all about?

Joy

What does it mean to follow?

travel light

How do we know
if we are looking at a saint?

Happy feet

Lord
give me a real smile
a light heart
and feet that dance
AMEN

Lunacy of God

The unflagging lunacy of God
The unending steaminess of human beings.
The meeting between them that is always
A matter of life or death
And usually both
                                           Frederick Beuchner

ah the lunacy of the Sacred

there we are
stinking in the hot dampness of
the seamy world

struggling
striving

needing the Sacred
needing hope
but finding ways
even in the name of the Sacred
to find only more darkness

politicians, placed in positions of trust
betray that trust,
and the people entrusted to their care

preachers, entrusted with the message of love and hope
share instead hate and despair
while justifying injustice
and supporting policies that leave ‘the least of these” homeless and hungry”

“people of faith”
accepted and forgiven
reject and judge

and yet the Sacred becomes present
again and again

and yet again

bringing love
seeking to make us people of love and compassion

how crazy is that!?
