Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Sacred

Jesus doesn’t divide the world up into the common and the sacred; he gives us eyes to see the sacred in the common.”
― Rob Bell, What We Talk About When We Talk About God: A Special Edition

Sacred is sometimes easy to see
mountains soaring
eagles coasting on the wind
fawns nestled in the grass
the smiles of grandchildren

it is not so easy (for me)
to find Sacred in the homeless man
crouched on the sidewalk in the shadow wealth
or in the angry rants on Facebook

it is not so easy to Sacred Presence
in that person who believes that brutality wins the day
or that accumulation of wealth
justifies the neglect of the vulnerable

it is not so easy, some mornings
to see Sacred in the mirror

but it is there
woven in and through
everything
everyone

if I only have eyes
to see
