I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Seeing Clearly
“Perhaps the most
"spiritual" thing any of us can do is simply to look through our own
eyes, see with eyes of wholeness, and act with integrity and kindness.”
Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are

Our view is so often blurred
Distorted by
So many things
By the “truth’s” about ourselves
about the world that we learned at the feet of our parents
truths about ourselves
both good and bad
truths about others
truths about what is important and real
Distorted by messages
thrown about careless on FaceBook
through the media
messages intoned gravely and intently in places of worship
Ultimately we create our own realities
But it is not “our” reality
It is one given to us
And this reality leaves us trapped
By fear, insecurity, anger, hate, distrust
And we act accordingly
Unable to truly see the other
Unable to be open and vulnerable
Unable to act with generosity and kindness.
In spirituality, at its best
We come to know Sacred
Know ourselves
And through that clearing of the soul
We come to a clearer sense of our divine original
Our sense of our true self
And that sets us free
To see the other through the eyes of wholeness
To be open and vulnerable
To act with generosity and kindness
This is true spirituality
This is what the world needs
