Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Why?

" Sometimes
I want to ask God
why He allows poverty, famine
and injustice in the world
when He could do something about it,

.... but I'm afraid He might just
ask " ME " the
same question. "

Where does the solution lie -
to those ills that plague the beloved children?

How do we stop children from crying out in hunger
And soften the despair in a parents eyes,
as they look upon a sick child
and wonder if they can afford to take them to a doctor
(since their insurance was taken away)?

How do we change our hearts,
And the hearts of those around us
So that we move beyond fear, and exclusion, to welcome?

How to we create a space for the voiceless to speak?

We can excuse horrible things
By saying God is in control
As if God causes horrible things to happen
To afflict the sinful
Or wake up the slothful

We can excuse human error
By suggesting that terrible mistakes are really
Just “God’s will”, and we merely do not understand the hidden blessing

The fact is
The solution lies with us
It lies in essential honesty, as we looking the mirror
And see the problem
As we go to the Sacred with our selfishness and fear
With our poor choices, and thoughtless act
And seek forgiveness

It lies with our actions
As we create sanctuary for the refugee
And welcome for those rejected
And forgiveness for those who often cannot forgiveness themselves

The solution is in our hands
As we feed the hunger, clothe the naked
And House the homeless

The solution emerges as we work
To ensure healthcare for all,
And equal rights, no matter what color, creed, or sexual orientation

The solution?
We are the solution

We are the solution
