I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Love, or Not, your choice
" For evil give good,
hold no revenge ....
in the heart…
Your body will be
free of sickness,
Your life be blessed. "

We are making ourselves sick
With all this anger
With all this greed
With all this fear and hate
With all this resentment
And regret
It seems we can only hold so much garbage
All of these evils we carry
Seem to leak into our souls
Making us ill
we see it in people all around us
how they are dragged down
minimized by their pasts
and their fear of the future
how they are eroded by the need to dominate
and control
and use
and abuse
we see it
for they carry their sickness in their eyes
their words
their actions
we see it as they carry it in their bodies
as they walk bent
stiffly
painfully
burdened by the weight of it all
and we feel it, in ourselves
we too are part of all of this
we get caught up in it all
the anger
the pain
the hopelessness
the fear
we pick it up
we assimilate it
and regurgitate it (vomit anyone?)
we become participants
willing and unwilling
we pass it
replicate it
perpetuate it
but we don’t have to
we have a choice
to participate in evil
to respond to hate and anger in kind
or
to overcome evil with good
to tap into that deep will of love
that is God
to connect as vine to the branch
to the one who in whom we live and breathe and have our
being
we have a choice
Martin Luther King Jr. said it well
“Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot
murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the
hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. . .
. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive
out hate; only love can do that.”
The only way we truly win is through love
The only way we can love is if we are loved
If we accept the love of the Sacred, freely given, but
not so freely received
So be loved
Let that love clean you
Let it see you free
Let it take out the garbage
And then
Love
Or not
Your choice
