Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

God, hidden in us - too hidden

Even the shadow of God is brilliant, so brilliant,
So much so even God has trouble looking at Himself as that …

Unless God is more disguised, hidden in illusion,
hidden as God can be, in us.

There are some things we simply fail (often)
to take seriously about God (Sacred)

we have our views of God
that are so limited and frail

little old man
cranky parent

god as arbitrary
and perhaps even cruel
certainly judgmental

we forget it seems
that God is Mother as well as Father
and forget that all our images are painfully limited

we forget that God is
so transcendent, so big
we forget that God is
so intimate, so close

we forgot God is love
that God is truth
that God is creative power
that God is light

and we forget
alas
that God
who is everywhere, everywhere

is also in us

We are carriers of God
Little pieces of Sacred are woven into our being

And the more we are open to that presence
The more we connect with that presence
The more we go deep, and become intimate
With our immanent intimate God

The more we shine

Maybe the world would be a better place
If the “Christ in Us’
Were not quite
So
Hidden

  1. I really like this! God isn't in a far off, distant, overly imagined heaven alone. I'm big on how much we need to look for God in ourselves and around us here on Earth. Thank you for writing such a beautiful piece!
