I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Advent - the Biblical Scholars
ow long will grown men and women in this world
Keep drawing in their coloring books
Images of God that
Makes them
Sad?

buried in the bowls of the palace
the theologians
ponder
pouring over their tomes
reading and things
organizing thought
and believe
until dogma and law
suck all life out of faith
and Yahweh becomes a concept
and faith a legal system
and then the pondering is interrupted
in messy revolting ways
immigrants
stinking of camels
oil barons from the east
demanding news regarding a disturbance in the force
“We have seen signs” they cry
Something is happening!
God is alive and moving!
The theologians turn to their books
They research
They pontificate
The present a theologically correct statement
About stars and a new king
And then they turn back to their books
And their dogma
And their laws
They continue to draw dusty breaths
In the dry staleness
and sink back sadly
into obscurity and death
while outside
in the dark
stars shine
angels sing
babies are born
gifts are given
and life and faith
happen
