Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Defining the future

You might quiet the whole world for a second
If you pray

And if you love, if you
Really love,

our guns will wilt
                                St. John of the Cross

It seems to be a day for pondering
another year almost gone

and future ready to be birthed

the path behind is littered
with debris
mistakes made
anxiety rampant

I needed no help
to make the way steep and slippery
I needed no help
at all, at all

yet help was there
a gauntlet of hate and discord
voices screaming, spitting vitriol
poisoning the airway
the internet
ah, the very air

out come the guns
literally, sadly
figuratively, sadly
children killed
people damaged and wounded by words
and ideologies
lives ruined by ideology turned into action
(who needs food, housing, and health care anyway… I need another house!)

and yet
and yet
a way forward lies

how will we define it?
with fear?
or love?

our choice

love is a choice
with a God

What we need is people of love “rubbing off on one another….right now we need to pass on grace and healing…”*
