Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Reverence Humming

In an interview with Rolling Stone Jane Fonda (yes her) was asked about the fact that she had become a Christian.  The interviewer said “that is pretty explosive”.  To which Fonda replied, “I could feel reverence humming within me.”

We wander through life
eat meals
grab taxis
rush through airports
go to meetings

Ah, the lovely smell of diesel
in the morning
Ah, the joy of bad hotel coffee
(where is an espresso joint when you need one?)

We go through days at work
seeing the same people
doing the same tasks
repeating
repeating
repeating
a pattern that become programed
into our very DNA
our very souls

and then
the sun breaks through the clouds
a friend call with anguish in her voice
a father walks down the concourse of the airport
with three little clones of himself
following
in line behind him
like ducklings following their mother

and suddenly all is changed
suddenly the divine energy
of the Sacred One who is
always, always there
but all too rarely seen
breaks through
is liberated

we realize that there is something deeper
something more

and ruach
“the expressed power, the divine energy”
hums within

Thanks to Rob Bell for the concept of ruach
