I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

You want me to go where? And do what?
If you can’t get destination
Go for direction

[destination] severely inhibits our relationship with
life. We’re so intent on getting somewhere,
or performing well, or becoming someone in particular, that we shut out and
shut down. We silence the messages coming
from our world. We don’t take in
information, we just plow ahead with evermore determination. Good-bye to curiosity, farewell to
experimentation. Welcome to disappointment,
failure, regret
We could lighten up – we could go for direction not
destination…

Wayne Muller says we only have one choice in life
The “next right choice”
His point? When we
start looking ahead and plotting our course
We get in trouble
For from that moment we have chosen a way
We have chosen a WAY
We have CHOSEN a way
We HAVE chosen a way
WE have chosen away
In reality every time we make a choice, a whole new set of
options and choices appear
And our job, as spirituality people, is to look for the breadcrumb
the sacred one has dropped
That choice that will lead us on to whatever is most loving,
most caring, most healing
But no… we have it all worked out
And we have silenced the messages
Stopped looking for the breadcrumbs
And we just plow ahead
It’s a good description, if you think about it, it radical
conservatism
It’s a good description, if you think about it, of radical
liberalism
God wants one thing.. for us to head, generally, the right
direction
Open
Curious
Willing to try new things
Willing to think new ways
God just wants us to follow the (to us biblical terms)
The voice of the shepherd, wherever the shepherd happens to
be going
God simply once us to go into the empty unknown (the desert)
To the place “he will show us”
Eventually
If we are lucky
No wonder it is called faith!
PS – and we might be wonderfully excited about the destination
God takes us to
