It is the heart that is at the heart

I trod the well worn path
step by step by step by step

but it is not my feet
not my legs
that keep me moving

not my lungs
that enliven my limbs

it is the heart that is at the heart
the matter

if it does not beat
my steps falter
and I fall

in all of life
it is the heart that matters

it is the heart
filled life
all the good gifts of the sacred

that powers me on my way
without the heart
all is
