I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

King the King
Χριστός ο βασιλιάς
Christ the King (Mark 15:32)
King the King
Doubled crowned
what does it mean
to believe in King the King?
Is Christ our King or the King
To go, perhaps
One step further
What does it mean to think of God
as ruler?
Is God our Ruler, or the Ruler?
Is God our God or the God?
Do we own God, or does God belong to everyone?
Is God for everyone, or just for “us?”
To put it yet another way
Are people entitled to lay claim to God,
or do we believe God lays claim to people?
This is an important distinction
for how we think about God matters
a lot
If God is “our God”
On our side (exclusively)
For us (and not them)
If we are the entitled and privileged
(while others are not)
what happens to faith?
It appears that all too frequently our version of
the Sacred
Is of a God who is for some, and not others
“God bless America”
But forget the rest of the world
Thus, all too often the God we present becomes a
bully
and we the sidekicks who hang around
participating in second hand bullying
Damning (in the name of God)
Cursing
Judging
Hating
Those we do not agree with
Those we fear
Those who look and sound different
After all, God belongs to us
More than we belong to God
But we lose so much
love
compassion
generosity (
I prefer to think of God
(as portrayed so beautifully by King the King
(Jesus)
As the accepting compassionate one
who is over all
and for all
and I suspect we do not have unique privileges
just the special privileges that come with being
the children of God
and I suspect we are all children of the King
that the world is littered with princes and princesses
heirs of the kingdom
and that this journey we call life
is all about all of us
working together
sometimes uneasily (after all we are siblings)
to get to the kingdom of love
the place where Sacred rules
together
So God bless us
every one
