Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

stormy skies

“Sabbath, in the first instance, is not about worship. It is about work stoppage. It is about withdrawal from the anxiety system of Pharaoh, the refusal to let one’s life be defined by production and consumption and the endless pursuit of private well-being.”
― Walter Brueggemann

a violent sky
crashing and flashing
filled with smoke

fiery destruction
battling
wind and rain

swirling
dark chaos

no sunrise here
only gray upon black
and then

a reddish glimmer
one small glimpse
of sun
breaking through

a thin shaft of light
piercing the value

a reminder of the calm blue sky
and life giving sun behind the chaos
ultimately triumphant

sabbath
