Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Who Shows Up

isn't it funny
who shows up

at the tomb
early one morning?

Mary
Magdalene

Not the earnest ones
not the strivers
not the men
the disciples
the insiders

but the woman,
mysterious,
unknown,
the one without standing or rank
the marginalized,
the judged

there she is, seeking the one
who unabashedly gave her
acceptance and love

there she is
being greeted by all newness
all life

why is she the one?
How did she come to be here?

perhaps the secret is that she was not
a striver
an insider

but was, instead,  simply one
who, with nothing to give,
still sought to give

who offered nothing more
than a service of love
the anointing of a stinking corpse

that act of servitude offered
that giving of the self
in the midst of hope crucified

led her to the tomb
and to the living One
who gently whispered
her
name
