I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

In this moment
“When Moses says, "Who am I that I should go to
Pharaoh?" God answers not by telling Moses who he is, but by telling him
who God is, saying, "I will be with you" (Exodus 3:12)”
Harold S Kushner
“To recognize that the Psalms call us to pray and sing at
the intersections of the times--of our time and God's time, of the then, and
the now, and the not yet--is to understand how those emotions are to be held
within the rhythm of a life lived in God's presence.”
N.T. Wright

In this time and place
In this time
And in this place
In this moment of history
As the planet perishes
And greedy people speed it on its way
In this moment
As vulnerable people, fleeing poverty and death
Are crowded into inhumane island of neglect and filth
By a government that is intentionally cruel
(we’ll show them)
In this moment
As more and more people
More and more children
Die because of our love of guns
Which is really a love of power and its use
In this moment
When the space around us is filled
With lies and hate
Fear and greed
Our time and Sacred time intersect
The sacred and the profane intersect
It all comes together
Us
God
The past
The future
It all comes together in this moment
And in this moment whether we grieve or rejoice
Celebrate or mourn
Dance or plod
Rise up or fall
In this moment
God is
For all of life
With its horrors and its beauty
Is greed and its generosity
Its hate and its love
All of life is lived
Within the context of Sacred Presence
When we fear the collapse of our nation
When we mourn the loss of compassion
When we burn indignantly at the abuse of migrants
When our hearts soar at the rising of the son
When we are overwhelmed with lies and grandiosity
When we are humbled by those who quietly serve
God is
When we look at ourselves
And believe we are not enough
Not strong enough
Caring enough
Generous enough
To fight the evil around us
To penetrate the darkness
To bend history toward justice and equity
To love in the midst of hate
God is
And says simply
It’s not about you
It’s about US
It is about me, in you
For I will be with you
Always
And there is nothing you can do
About that
