Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

The power to transform

We shouldn’t abuse God’s creatures
We must reverse the haiku, not:
A dragonfly
Remove its wings
Pepper tree
But:
A pepper tree
Add wings to it
Dragonfly

Japanese Master Basho in response to Kikakou’s Poem (Quoted by Mark Nepo)

Thus begins another week Lord
There will be choices to make
Big choices, about situations like Syria
Smaller choices
About how we respond to people in our lives

How are we going to respond
To those situations
Those people
In our path that are difficult
Troublesome?

How are we going to respond to
The hurt the fear that we find?

How are we going to respond to the vulnerable?

We can touch
Shape
Even help transform
Whatever we find in our hands

A heart
A soul
A mind
A pepper tree

As we go through this week
May the power of your love
So flow through us

That fear becomes hope
Anger become forgiveness
Hate becomes love
That pepper trees become dragonflies
