I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Come Dance With Me
"Every child has known God, Not the God of
names, Not the God of don'ts, Not the God who ever does Anything weird, But the
God who knows only 4 words And keeps repeating them, saying: "Come Dance
with Me."
- Hafiz
o world of spring and autumn, birth and dying
The endless cycle of idea and action,
Endless invention, endless experiment,
Brings knowledge of motion, but not of stillness;
Knowledge of speech, but not of silence;
Knowledge of words, and ignorance of the Word.
All our knowledge brings us nearer to our
ignorance,
All our ignorance brings us nearer to death,
But nearness to death no nearer to GOD.
Where is the Life we have lost in living?
Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in
information?
The cycles of Heaven in twenty centuries
Bring us farther from GOD and nearer to the Dust.
~ TS Eliot
And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you
change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of
heaven.
~ Jesus

when was the last time
I lived life
with the exuberance of a child?
when was the last time
I gasped at a sunrise
jumped into a puddle
skipped through the house
danced and twirled in the sand?
when was the last time
my laughter was free and real
and my joy
just joy?
when was the last time
I danced like no one was watching?
when did life get lost
in the living?
when did the Sacred One become
a matter of ideology, and rules
rather than the one
who asks us to dance
the dance of life
with joy?

New Eyes
“For things to reveal themselves to us, we need to
be ready to abandon our views about them.”
― Thích Nhất Hạnh,
________________________________________________
sometimes I am so insightful I scare myself
its uncanny
really
how well I can read another person
how brilliant I am about what needs to happen in
our country
how I can know just what another person needs to
do
I mean I know
I know
that the guy over there
yes that one
is a loser
no doubt about it
he will never amount to anything
I know she is
an regulated mess
I know that relationship
will never work
and yet
the path behind me is littered
with insights gone awry
with situations that were nothing like they
seemed,
with sure winners
who faltered and failed
and total losers
who pulled it together and found a way
to grow, and flourish, and succeed
and how often have I trapped others
in my perception of them
how often have I defined them
wrongly
how often have i trapped myself in fear an anger
because of belief
I could not release?
and how often have I trapped others
in my perception of them
how often have I defined them
wrongly
how often have i trapped myself in fear an anger
because of belief
I could not release?
perhaps
do you think
I need to
you need to…
we all need to let our eyes
be renewed?
Jesus eyes
Buddha eyes
Sacred eyes
humble eyes
loving eyes
compassionate eyes
eyes that know
there is more
much more
than they can see

As the World Turns
“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is
the axis on which the world earth revolves - slowly, evenly, without rushing
toward the future.”
― Thích Nhất Hạnh

the day awaits
soon the inky darkness
will begin to fade
the day awaits
there are songs to sing
sermons to preach
articles to write
light bulbs to be changed
trees and pastures to be watered
people to support
meetings to attend
it is easy
to let the tyranny of the urgency win
to sit restless and anxious
to drink my coffee in a couple of gulps
while I type away on my computer
check my phone
listen to the new on the TV
think about the day
Ah
I don’t simply rush into the future
I run
trip
and roll down the hill into the future
lying ultimately (at the end of the day)
battered and bruised and wondering
“what the hell just happened!”
Ah
Breathe
Sip
Breathe
Sip
“The oxen are slow but the earth is patient”
Sip
Breathe
As the world gently
turns
