I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

Finding Religion
The source of the word religion, the Latin religio, is to “bind back. Religion is meant to bind us back to the
Creator, not to bind us internally with knots of fear, anxiety, and
prejudice. Spiritual, with its root in
spirit, or breath, refers to the source of life.

what ever happened to religion?
what ever happened to God?
religion, with all its texts, and tomes
its rituals and doctrines
was meant to help us find our way
to Sacred Presence
but something went terribly wrong
God became buried beneath the rubble
of structures
crumbling
falling
eroding
and bearing us down
as they fell
and we have been left with cultural norms instead of gospel
a God of our creation instead of a creator God
judgment instead of grace
exclusion rather than inclusion
fear rather than joy
with a God of our own making
may the fresh wind of the Spirit
blow through the ruins
may the tears of God water the parched earth
and may
love blossom
and the Sacred
dwell in the verdant garden of our souls
