Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Starting from gratitude

If you only say one prayer in a day, make it thank you.

I think
that the best way to approach the Sacred
is through gratitude

it seems to my rather feeble brain
that when we approach the Sacred any other way
things get twisted.

if we approach out of righteousness
we are likely to ask Sacred to reject and judge
(Oh Lord I am thankful that I am not like “them”)

if we approach out of our anger
we are likely to ask for “bad things” to happen
to those we hate
(Smite them Lord)

if we approach out of need
then we are likely to be blind to our blessings
and may well ask for things that,
in the end, would not truly enrich our lives
(do I need to elucidate?)

but when we approach out of gratitude
aware of how great the Sacred One is
and aware of the ways we have been blest,
so blest

then from that place
we can move on to ask Sacred to make us
generous, and kind
compassionate and forgiving

gratitude puts us in the right place spirituality
to approach the Divine
and receive from our exchange with the Sacred
the things we need
to participate
in the
Sacred movement
of love
