I am a wanderer. I would say that I am a seeker, but sometimes I have no idea what I might be seeking, so I will stick with wanderer. This blog is more a public journal than anything. I don't claim to have life figured out. I simply stumble from mystery to mystery, and share my reflections along the way. Sometimes I feel burdened, and trudge. Sometimes? Well sometimes grace breaks through, and its time to dance.

God is Crazy
You are a mess, and you are loved.
You have a little issue with anger, and you are loved…
You think we are going through this alone, but you are
wrong, and you are loved
The thing you are experiencing right now seems to big, but
what is better is that you are loved.
From
Nadia Bolz-Weber’s book Accidental
Saints, p.167
______________________________________
we think we understand god
but we don’t
we talk about God’s justice
and we talk about Jesus needing to experience God’s wrath
to experience God’s justice
because God must satisfy justice
and placate the rules
and thus someone has to pay
but that is because that is how we look at it
we would have to get our vengeance
we would have to make sure people were
held accountable
for what they have done or not done
that is how we think
just look at our overcrowded prisons
is that how God thinks?
we think we (and everyone else)
has to earn God’s love
so we stumble through life, looking over our shoulders
wondering if we are being “good enough” for God
worrying about
the consequences of failure
will we be cursed somehow
will we end up
burning in the fires of hell for all eternity
because that is how we think
is that how God thinks?
we look at everything from our perspective
and we limit God
and in limiting God
we become as judgement and angry
and hurtful
as the God we create
but we are told
by none less than God
“my thoughts are not your thoughts
my ways are not your
ways”
what we see in the man
Jesus
Is that God is more than willing to throw the rules
away (out of the proverbial window)
for the sake of love
perhaps
the cross is more profoundly about love
and modeling the way of love than about justice
and God is more than willing to overlook our worst
for the sake of love
so God invites to the table
the dregs of humanity
come to the table, come to the feast!
God is crazy in love
with us
God is crazy
like
that
