Welcome

Primitive religion is not believed, it is danced!

Arthur Darby Nock

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

Lent 18 - The burden

something has hurt you
I can see it in the eyes,
see it in the way you carry your body
like an old man
stricken with arthritis

you move slowly down the hall
uncertainly
as if you would rather run away
than share this pain you carry

the truth is in the eyes
the mirror of the soul

we carry it in our bodies
which are merely containers shaped
by what is within

in that vessel we carry it all
all the heartbreak
all the fear
all the loneliness

we can hold it all tight to our heart
this burden
but then it must flow forth
from the eyes
like tears
